LU FSI Mutvārdu vēstures pētnieku grupa Bristoles Universitātes profesores Viedas Skultānes vadībā ir ieguvusi zinātnisko grantu turpmāko triju gadu pētījumam “Atmiņu pārnese starp paaudzēm: naratīvā perspektīva”.

Pieteiktais projekts orientēts uz vairāku paaudžu dzīvesstāstu izpēti, lai noteiktu atmiņu izmaiņas laikā un mijiedarbībā starp paaudzēm. Paredzēts dokumentēt un analizēt atmiņas, ko stāsta pēcteči tiem vecākiem vai vecvecākiem, kuru atmiņas atrodamas NMV krājumā. Tas ļaus sekot, kā tiešās pieredzes atmiņa pārtop par nostāstiem un simboliskiem naratīviem nākamo paaudžu apziņā. Paralēli tiks analizēti paaudžu pašapziņas strukturālie un ētiskie komponenti 1930. un 1980. gados dzimušo Latvijas iedzīvotāju dzīvesstāstos. Uzklausot un analizējot dzīvesstāstus, pētīsim, kā dažādās paaudzēs un etniskajās grupās ir mainījusies nacionālās identitātes un kulturālās piederības izpratne. Balstīsimies uz mūsu iepriekš veikto pētījumu par krievu un latviešu dzīvesstāstiem, īpašu uzmanību pievēršot vērtību sistēmas maiņai sociālo nosacījumu ietekmē.

The oral history researchers’ group, led by Vieda Skultans, professor emerita at the University of Bristol, has started a new research project “Narrative perspectives on intergenerational transmission of memory” (2018–2021, financed by the Latvian Council of Science).

Our project will draw simultaneously upon the life histories of several generations and thus map the shaping of memory across time. As part of the research we will be recording the life stories of descendants whose parents’ or grandparents’ stories are already lodged in the NOH Archive. This will enable us to track the changes that take place as experienced events transform into recounted and heard events. In parallel we will be analysing the structural and ethical building blocks used by the generations born in the 1930s and 1980s. Our project will make visible changes in the meanings of national and ethnic identity through the collection and analysis of life histories from different generations and ethnic groupings. We will be building upon the findings of our earlier study of Latvian and Russian life stories. In particular, we will be looking for changes in value systems and looking to identify the social concomitants of these changes.
